Regulatory signs

Regulatory Signs inform road users about traffic laws or regulations, non-compliance with which would be an offence.

Regulatory signs stipulate locations subject to legal requirements or to draw attention to situations where requirements may not be apparent.

Most regulatory signs are rectangular in shape with the long axis vertical and have a black legend on white background.

However, other shapes and colours may be specified for signs where there is a special need for easy identification.

As with warning signs, regulatory signs make use of symbols and arrows to provide easy identification and clarity of instruction.

A regulatory sign may require the addition of a supplementary sign which should be a white sign of the same width as the regulatory sign.

Where a special inscription is needed on an enlarged sign it should be shown in black below the main instructions.  It should be as clear and as simple to understand as possible to ensure that the conditions imposed by the sign are enforceable.

If the sign deviates from the RCA’s (Road Controlling Authority) specifications, Artcraft recommends that this gets signed off before ordering.
