Durst-Printer-VIC1 (2)As part of Artcraft's significant investment in capital equipment upgrades throughout the Group, Artcraft Melbourne have recently installed and commissioned the first digital printer for production of permanent traffic signs in Victoria. • End Of An Era

Ron Walton, one of Artcraft Victoria's trade qualified screen printers has retired bringing an end to a long 49 year career at Artcraft. Ron started as an apprentice screen printer with the company in 1965, printed millions of signs since and can now sit back and enjoy his retirement, fishing to his hearts content!

A man of few words, Ron had a fantastic work ethic and will be sadly missed in the Victorian operation. A passionate AFL Geelong Cats supporter, Ron was driven to despair over the losses of four grand finals between 1989-1995 but came to life (and as many fellow employees noted), that the smile could not be wiped from his face when they finally won the flags in 2007, 2009 and 2011.

Pictured below, Ron after being presented with a custom sign made by Artcraft especially for the occasion, signed by all staff members.

Management and staff wish Ron all the very best on a long and relaxing retirement.

  • Artcraft Assists Government

On the back of a lot of good lead up work over the last twelve months by long serving Brisbane Key Account Manager, Greg Wruck, Artcraft had the opportunity to demonstrate an LED enhanced Low Bridge warning sign to senior representatives of both Local and State governments at a media photo shoot recently.

The product in question will be part of a joint Brisbane City Council, Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Rail roll-out of Low Bridge warning signs with solar powered flashing amber beacons. The project is an excellent example of the intertwining business units now operating out of the Brisbane offices with Artcraft’s traditional Brisbanlowbridgeahead-completede Branch leading the sale and producing the sign faces, Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) supplying and installing the electronic and solar powered technology to the faces and Streets Ahead Maintenance (SAM) installing the final product on site.

Building off of the success of the Enhanced School Zone Signs Project, ITS Project Manager, Christian Bow, couldn't resist the opportunity to pose with Brisbane City Council Deputy Mayor, Adrian Schrinner and Queensland State Government Minister for Transport and Main Roads, the Honourable Scott Emerson.

Minister Emerson said that he was very happy with the success of the school zone sign project to date and confirmed the government’s intention to continue the roll-out over the next financial year and hopefully beyond.
